Cooker Hood Advice Centre From Hoover

Where are the model and serial numbers?
- Rating plate location
  - Open the access to the filter, the model number will be visible on the rating plate. The information usually required by our customer service team are the model number which is 8 digits long (beginning with a 3), and the serial number which is 16 digits long.
Installation requirements
- Electric hob
  - Minimum distance above an electric hob is 60cm. Minimum distance above a gas hob is 70cm
- Single ventillation pipes only
  - The fumes from an extractor type hood should not use the same venting pipes as that of other appliances
- Flambe cooking
  - Flambe cooking should not be carried out when the product is used in conjunction with a hood
Filter issues
- Carbon filter
  - Carbon filters are only needed if the hood is to recirculate the cooking odours into the kitchen
- Electronic controlled hoods
  - When replacing filters on electronic hoods the control buttons need to be operated as per the instruction book to deactivate the change filter indicator.
- Standard cloth filter
  - These filters can be washed in a warm washing up solution. Dry thoroughlty efore refitting. Should the result not be favourable then spares can be supplied via our on line ordering solution.
- Gauze filters
  - Gauze filters can be removed from their housings and washed clean in a solution of warm washing up water. Dry the filter thoroughly before refitting
My hood keeps going even though I have switched it off
- Auto shut off
  - Some electronic hoods have an automatic timer so that it will continue to work for 5 minutes after it is switched off.
Flashing indicator lights
- Filter check
  - On some electronic hoods the indicator lights will flash to show that the carbon filter may need to be changed. This will normally occur after about 30 hours of use.
Steam does not get sucked up into the hood. Is there something wrong?
- Power setting
  - All hoods have a variable power level. If there is too much being cooked at once then the hood may not take all the steam away.
- Leave running
  - The hood will eventually take away the condensation if it is left on after the cooking has been completed. This will help to reduce condensation on the windows.
- Close doors and windows
  - When using your hood make sure that other doors and windows are not open at the same time, as the hood may be fighting against the other openings.
- Filter check
  - Clean the filters.
My kitchen is smelling of odours even though my hood is vented
- Change over mechanism
  - Check that the change over mechanism from Vented to Recirculate is the correct position.
- Ventillation kit check
  - Check that the ventilation tubes are securely connected, otherwise odours will come back into the kitchen
- External vent flaps
  - Check that the ventillation flaps that go outside are opening sufficintly to expell the air.
- Filter check
  - Check and wash any gauze or cloth filters to return the product to peak efficiency.
