Tumble Dryer Problem Solving From Hoover

Not working In Low Ambient Temperatures
- Action to be taken
  - In the current extreme weather conditions we have found that certain tumble dryers will sometimes not work in low ambient temperatures. This will affect products located in a garage or outhouses etc when ambient temperatures are very low. The effect is that the dryer will start and then cut out after 20 seconds. If this problem occurs take the following action. SWITCH OFF THE TUMBLE DRYER and stand a small bowl of hot (not boiling) water inside the tumble dryer drum for 2 minutes then remove the bowl of water. Now switch on the tumble dryer which should now function normally.
Where are the model and serial numbers?
- Location of serial numbers
  - Open the door of your product, the rating plate sticker should be visible on the top of the porthole. The information usually required by our customer service team are the model number which is 8 digits long (beginning with a 3), and the serial number which is 16 digits long.
The machine will not start
- Is the plug in the socket
  - Is the plug properly connected to the electrical socket?
- Checking the socket
  - Is there a working electricity supply to the dryer? Check the socket using another appliance.
- Has the fuse blown?
  - Has the fuse blown? If so, replace the fuse.
- Is the door fully closed?
  - Is the door fully closed? Press the Start button after closing the door.
Vented Dryer is not drying the clothes
- Cleaning the filter
  - Empty the filter and clean the door seal after every use.
- Checking the vent hose
  - Check to make sure the vent hose is not kinked.
- Ventillation inlet grills
  - Make sure the ventilation inlet grills on the machine are not restricted. Do not site the machine next to curtains as they can cover the inlet grills and effect efficiency.
- Sorting the load
  - Sort the load correctly as not all fabrics are suitable for tumble drying.
- HIgh/low heat button
  - Check to make sure that the high/low heat button is in the correct position for the fabrics being dried.
Condenser Dryer is not drying the clothes
- Cleaning the filter
  - Empty the filter and clean the door seal after every use
- Ventillation inlet grill
  - Make sure the ventilation inlet grills on the machine are not restricted. Do not site the machine next to curtains as they can cover the inlet grills and effect efficiency.
- Sorting the load
  - Sort the load correctly as not all fabrics are suitable for tumble drying.
- Cleaning the condenser
  - Clean the condenser unit by washing out any fluff that has gathered there.
- Empty the water tank
  - Empty out the water tank.
- Small loads
  - Small loads will not always dry efficiently in a sensor dryer. Try using a timed tumble dry for maximum effectiveness on small loads
Steam/Condensation in the room/on the windows
- Explanation
  - Condenser Dryers need adequate ventilation to be most effective. They should ideally be sited in a room which has good ventilation to give a constant supply of cool air to the condenser unit in order for it to work efficiently.
Hydro Dryer is not drying the clothes
- Solution A
  - Empty the filter and clean the door seal after every use
- Checking for restrictions
  - If the machine is plumbed into a sink tee off, check to make sure that there is not a restriction between the outlet pipe from the machine and the connection to the tee off.
- Checking the sink tee off
  - If the machine is plumbed into a sink tee off, check to make sure that the pipe from the machine goes upwards after the connection. This will stop any water going from the sink into the machine.
Condenser Dryer clothes come out wet
- Explanation
  - Condenser Dryers need adequate ventilation to be most effective. They should ideally be sited in a room which has plenty of ventilation to give a constant supply of cool air to the condenser unit in order for it to work efficiently.
Hydro Dryer water care light comes on
- Check for blockages
  - If the machine is plumbed into the down pipe of the sink, check the connections for blockages and to make sure the pipe is aligned correctly.
Hydro Dryer time is too long/ clothes not dry enough
- Have you selected the correct drying programme?
  - Have you selected the correct drying programme? Small loads do not dry effectively using sensor drying. Select a drying time instead.
- Were the clothes too wet
  - Were the clothes too wet before going into the machine? Try spinning them then re-drying.
- Checking the airflow
  - Check to ensure the air inlets and outlets are not restricted on the base and rear of the machine
