Burn off the smells for 30 minutes with plenty of ventilation in the room

New ovens may have a pungent smell on first use. This is not a fault with the oven and is usual because factory residues may need to be cooked off the elements or hot plates.

New ovens may have a pungent smell on first use. This is not a fault with the oven and is usual because factory residues may need to be cooked off the elements or hot plates.

Before you use your oven for the first time you will need to 'burn off' the 'newness' smell. Open the windows of the room and switch the oven on to full heat and after 30 minutes the  smell will disappear.

 

Always disconnect your appliance from the mains before you start examining it!
