On most washers there is an option button present that allows you to change the spin speed (see picture).

By using the option button it is possible to turn off the spin so the clothes will come out of the washer and will still be wet.

Check your instruction manual for details of how to change the spin on your specific model.

Load is too small or unbalanced

For maximum performance, It is important that the load is evenly balanced inside the drum before the machine starts the spin section of the cycle. This will prevent the machine from excessive vibration and movement. Your machine has a safety sensor built in which carefully distributes the clothes around the surface of the drum to give the quietest spin possible.

So how does the sensor work?

It will carefully sort the washing around the drum before it spins

Can the sensor stop my machine from spinning the load?

Yes it may do. If there is just one item in the drum, a hooded jumper or a bath robe for example then it will not be able to distribute the load evenly around the drum. It discovers the load is unbalanced and stops the machine from spinning that particular load. A very small load can also be detected by the sensor and again it simply will end the cycle without spinning dry.

So what can be done to make things easier?

It is not economical to just wash one thing at a time so always try to put the machine on with a full and balanced load. If you have a few heavy things to wash then you could add  a few lighter items to create a load that your machine can evenly distribute around the drum before spinning.

Please watch the video clip that demonstrates the spin sensor in action

Have you chosen a quick wash programme?

Hoover have designed quick wash cycles that may be 14, 30 or 44 minutes in length. These are really good at getting a small load of lightly soiled items washed quickly. However to protect the garments from damage these programmes will only do a low speed spin and may feel wetter at the end. This is normal and not a fault with your machine, to get a full spin for robust fabrics then the normal wash cycles can be used. Always check with the wash care label on the garments to check which programme on your machine is suitable.

Check the drain pump filter is clean

At Hoover we recommend you clean the drain pump and filter at least once a month, to keep your machine working efficiently. It’s a good idea to have a shallow dish ready to catch any water that may spill over as it is normal for about a cup full of water to be left in the pump when you remove the filter. First step is to find the filter flap, located at the bottom of the machine on the front left hand side.
