Is the machine connected to your sink?

If your washer has been connected to drain out through your kitchen sink it is possible that smells from the sink can travel down the washing machine drain hose and make the drum smell when you open the door. If the waste pipe is not routed up above the basin of the sink it may be that dirty water from your sink is back filling into the washing machine.

If the waste pipe is not routed up above the basin of the sink it may be that dirty water from your sink is back filling into the washing machine.

Make sure that the waste pipe is fitted as shown, loop it up above the sink overflow to help stop dirty water and nasty smells form getting into your washing machine. Fix it up at the correct height with the 'U' Shaped hose support that came in the accessory pack inside the drum when the machine was delivered

Perform a maintenance wash cycle

We recommend that you should clean the inside of your machine at least once per month. This is known as a ‘maintenance wash’. At the end of each cycle there may be a build-up of sludgy deposits of undissolved soap powder and fabric conditioner along with lime scale. This build up can sometimes result in a pungent or bad smell coming from the drum and a regular maintenance cycle will clean away this unwanted sludgy deposit. It’s simple! Just put the empty machine on a hot 60 degree cotton cycle! You may add a special cleaner to make the maintenance wash more effective, or a descaling additive to keep your machine hygienically clean, smelling fresh and working efficiently.

pull the drawer out

With the drawer out it is possible to clean inside the soap dispenser body. Using a cloth with anti bacterial spray clean around paying attention to make sure the holes in the top of the soap dispenser are clear of any soap and mould build up. Now take the drawer to a sink and remove the cap that covers the fabric conditioner compartment.

remove the cap

Thoroughly wash the drawer with warm water and a mild detergent or anti bacterial spray to remove any soap or mould. Pay attention to the fabric conditioner cover (blue cap shown in the photo) and the drain hole found by turning the drawer over. Make sure this hole is clear.
